Volunteers Wanted!
You can support the work of AICM in many ways, not only financially. The Friends of AICM are looking for committed volunteers who would be prepared to give their time and expertese in the following positions:
Do you have the passion to make a difference to the disadvantaged and marginalised communities of south western Uganda? Can you turn challenges into successful opportunities and raise income for a growing and forward thinking charity? If you are creative and innovative, a self-starter, reliable and with a passion for Africa, we want to hear from you.
We are looking for passionate fundraisers who are committed Christians to join our work and to live out Christ’s message – “By your deeds will you be known”.
Project Manager – VTC PC Lab Project
The Friends of AICM have been instrumental in the establishment of a vocational training college (VTC) at Kabale in Uganda. The mission of the VTC is “To equip learners with practical and entrepreneurial skills to enable them become job creators rather than job seekers”. One of the courses offered at the VTC is that of basic computer skills, however the PC Lab where the course is run is severely under resourced, in terms of equipment, infrastructure, software and skills.
To address this and to provide the students of the VTC with the best possible chance or acquiring life changing skills that will make them self sufficient the Friends of AICM plans to establish an upgrade project that will address each of the issues currently facing the VTC.
We are looking for an experienced and skilled project manager to take ownership of and manage this project. Working closely with a Trustee of The Friends of AICM the project manager will take responsibility for part or all of the following:
- Planning the project
- Acquisition of necessary resources in the UK and Uganda
- Transportation of resources as appropriate from the UK to Kabale in Uganda
- Commissioning
- Training
- Implementation of maintenance processes to ensure the long term viability of the VTC PC Lab
The project manager will be a Christian with extensive relevant experience in an IT environment, have a proven track record of problem solving, and ideally some experience of fund raising and of working in Africa.
The role may involve travel to Uganda to commission the PC lab.
