Community Development

Potato StoreCommunity Development Group Associations

These associations, formed with the help of AICM, have about 30,000 members in Kabale district. The main purpose of these groups is mutual encouragement in income generating projects. These include:

  • Potato growing and storage
  • Bee keeping
  • Handicrafts
  • Pig and goat rearing
  • Tree nurseries

Many of these group members are widows, often due to HIV/AIDS.

As well as advice and training, the associations receive help in the form of starter packs for small projects (e.g beehives, pigs, seeds).

A typical centre for AICM community work is Ihunga village where the whole community, especially the school is supported.
