About AICM

AICM sign AICM is a Ugandan organisation, run by Ugandans for the benefit of other Africans.

Founded in 1983, AICM has a vision of Uganda inspired by the Christian faith, in which all people, regardless of race, creed or politics will unite to live and work together to achieve personal and collective fulfilment.

AICM’s sphere of influence is at present mainly in south-west Uganda around Kabale. It operates under a board of trustees chaired by the Director, Timothy Twikirize. The main activities of AICM are to fight poverty by providing:

  • Vocational training
  • Access to health care
  • Advocacy for minority groups
  • Appropriate education

By working through community groups and local authorities, AICM identifies local needs and initiates essential community projects. This fulfils AICM’s principle of achieving self-sufficiency through self-help.

AICM has offered training and direction to Christian communities in Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi and Congo where the founder and original director, the Rt.Rev. Enoch Kayeeye is now Assistant Bishop of North Kivu Diocese. AICM is looking to continue links with neighbouring countries.

The “Friends of AICM” began in 1983, to share the vision of AICM Uganda and to give financial support. The “Friends” do not seek to control AICM Uganda.

The Patron of the Friends of AICM is The Most Reverend John Sentamu, Archbishop of York.
